Yep, this is how I roll.  Its based on the infamous “Advice Dog”, a deceivingly simple and yet rather wide-ranging internet meme that can critique, praise, and mock almost anything.

This stuff is obviously for a younger demographic, so that’s where it can get used.  And it doesn’t have to be traditional websites we think of.  Raid discussion boards, popular youth oriented websites, the blogs of celebs and whos-who people that might attract green-minded people.  Just throw enough mud at the wall until something sticks.  I have been reluctant to do that so far, I kinda feel like I need some kind of approval.

Offline I have contemplated graffiti and random flyering of posters, but that can test legal waters.  But Shepard Fairey ideas abound in my head.  Are there West Mass peeps who have expressed an interest in D-Days?

I don’t worry too much about approval when it comes to the web. An open-submission field is an open window. Just read the guidelines and go wild.

    If you’re into tagging–

Be prepared for a stuff fine and public humiliation if you’re caught.

Don’t use any words etc that associates your tag with an organization of any kind. Including DD.

    Practice, practice, practice–make art.

Stick to abandoned buildings–no public  or privately owned structures.

I love good graffix, but it tends to piss off more people than it’s likely to inspire. Wheatpaste postering–if you’ve got nice stuff–is a step up, but still a nuisance. Stencilling’s cool.

Did you see the Shepard Fairy exhibit at the ICA last ummer? They did a terrific job–a slew of rooms, and some truly massive pieces along with smaller stuff. I like Banksy’s stuff, myself, but interesting to see hwo quickly this stuff gets commodified, ever since Basquait and the selling of B-Boy culture in the early 80’s (check out “Style Wars” if you haven’t seen it).
