(Word on the street is that Nat only added to his good fortune (sorry) at today’s auditor debate. Can’t wait to watch the video of that! – promoted by eli_beckerman)
OK, I’ve done my homework. I supported Mike Lake in the Democratic Primary because I felt he would be the candidate to do the work without closing his eyes to favorite agencies or favorite officials, or ignore wasteful policies that support this or that corporation or other anti-taxpayer type “look the other way” shenanigans. But he didn’t win.
I am a registered Democrat, and have been a Democrat my entire adult life. So I will say that it took some time, thought, and reflection to decide to break with my party and publicly support and promote Jill Stein for Governor. I am convinced it is the right thing to do. I can confidently promote her candidacy to others knowing that she is the only candidate looking out for the working middle class in a meaningful way.
I am not a big fan of Suzanne Bump. I feel she has too many friends in corporate circles and that she may not always do what’s best for the people of this state. My concern is that more often than not she will approach government spending with an eye to benefiting corporate interests and corporate profits. We just don’t need anymore of this in our government. We already have too much. Mary Connaughton is not an option for me because I just can’t support the Republican principles that got us into this economic mess in the first place. Not only that, there are other social issues that the Republicans stand for that are so contrary to my values that my voting for a Republican will simply never happen.
I have finally had a chance to listen to some of Nat Fortunes videos and statements regarding his
background and most importantly his vision for what his role as state auditor will mean to the taxpayers of this state. I like what he stands for and would be pleased to see him have a chance to change the way tax dollars are spent , and put an end to corporate welfare and blatant mismanagement of our tax dollars. We do need a “rocket scientist” to do this. We have one in Nat Fortune.
GO NAT!
I know this vid was posted here already, but it’s worth a replay.

Thank you for your kind words and your support!
Here’s a link to yesterday’s (Tue 12 Oct 2010) full 1 hour 3 way debate hosted by State House News Service and the Rappaport Center:
12 Oct 2010 Video of State Auditor Debate: Windows Media Player

My main point: public money should be spent for public purposes, like safe streets, strong schools, and healthy communities.
Personally, I think it is “must-see” video, but I leave it to others to decide who won!
So far, the debate hasn’t generated much press coverage of what I had to say, except for this:
Fortune called tax-incentive programs part of the “great America jobs scam,” saying not only would he audit those programs but push for the money currently diverted to lure specific businesses to be reinvested in communities for police, teachers and librarians instead. “Electing an auditor to tell you that the money is being thrown away exactly as expected is not going to help,” he said.

I ask for your support and your vote this Nov 2nd. Thank you!

You sounded like the only person who knew that the purpose of collecting tax dollars was to fund public programs, not to subsidize corporations. Thank you for being our voice.
I think you would serve the state extremely well as auditor. I hope you win.
