There comes a time when your political affiliations have meaning. At the moment, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib represents her Detroit and Dearborn district as part of the very Democratic Party coalition that continues its active, long-running support of the U.S.-Israeli genocide of the Palestinian People.

With so many red lines crossed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stunning reception by the Joint Session of Congress on July 25, 2024, in the midst of his government’s genocide in Gaza, should be the absolute last straw.

The full support of the he Biden-Harris Administration, the Harris-Walz campaign, and the Democratic Party establishment for war crimes, for funding and arming Israel’s decimation of the Palestinian people, and for breaking US laws to do it, should all be the last straw. The party’s refusal to include a vetted, pro-Democratic Party, Palestinian voice in the Democratic National Convention, should have been the last straw. Harris’ stunning rebuke by the US electorate, and so many within the Democratic Party coalition, should be the last straw.

In contrast, the Green Party’s small but mighty voice emerged from the 2024 election as the closest thing there is to an organized and consistent moral vision of resistance and transformation for this nation.

It is time for Rashida Tlaib to abandon her corrupt and genocidal political party. These democrats-in-name-only do not deserve her. It is time for Rep. Tlaib to join the Green Party and help build it into the alternative we deserve and desperately need.

We appreciate her lone voice in Congress standing up so clearly and powerfully for people, peace, and the planet. It is shameful that the Democratic Party continues to use every fiber of its being to support and arm Israel’s devastating war-against-humanity in Palestine and beyond, all while working to tear Tlaib down as the fierce leader she is.

We invite her to change her party affiliation from blue to Green, and ignite the political revolution that we so desperately need. The Green Party is the one party that stands proudly and clearly for Palestinian rights, for black and brown lives, for peace and justice everywhere on this precious planet.
