I have the privilege of representing Southbridge on the Southern Worcester County Regional School Committee. Like most school systems in the Commonwealth we are always looking for ways to reduce costs but to improve education.  The Bay Path Vocational School has a reputation for excellence in everything that she does and turning to sustainable energy is no exception.  The vision came from the superintendent David Papagni a few years back to harness the great wind power that we have on the hill in Charlton where the school is located.  It would seem we have a sustained wind about 300 days of the year.

After much research and planning approval has been given to start the process to install a wind turbine on the campus of the school.  

Tomorrow, citizens all over the country will be heading for the polls to cast votes for Congress as well as any number of state and local races. This election is being called a historic election by some and I believe will be historic indeed. I only hope that after the election both parties will be able to find a way to work together so we can get our country back on track.

In Massachusetts the people will be electing a new governor as well as all of the other constitutional offices. I am casting my ballot for the candidates from the Massachusetts Green Party. I realize that there is not much of a chance that they will win, but I believe we need more voices from an independent third party and the Massachusetts Green Party has the clearest voice for change in this election. If enough people vote Green tomorrow the voice will be heard loud and clear.

Here are some of my reasons for voting Green tomorrow:

Unless you live under a rock you know that we have an election in about six weeks time. Here in Massachusetts we have several seats up for grabs including the Governor’s office. For the last four years it has been held by a Democrat and for more than 12 years before that a Republican. There will be four names on the ballot in November but the media is making sure you will only hear from three.

Tonight, a debate will take place being sponsored by a group of media outlets in Massachusetts hosted by CNN’s John King. This debate will feature all four candidates but if the media has it’s way one of those voices will be silenced after tonight. It has already been silenced by several media outlets and I find this action outrageous.

In addition to the Democrat and Republican on the ballot this November will be an Independent candidate and a candidate from the Green Party. It is the Green Party candidate that the media hopes will go away. Dr. Jill Stein is on the ballot in Massachusetts, has met all of the requirements of her party and the Commonwealth yet the media thinks she is not worthy of a spot on the stage. They have decided that a candidate that has not raised more than $100,000 by October 1st is not viable and therefore will not allowed on the stage. I find this troubling on many levels.
