The other day I called Governor Walker’s appearance on a prank phone call — showing the world the corrupted state of affairs inside the halls of power here in the U.S. — his “Mubarak Moment.”
I think today he’s done it again. Walker’s Mubarak Moment #2 was today’s attempt to close down the Capitol Building, giving protestors a 4pm deadline to leave.
Check out Ben Brandzel’s live feed of what’s happening in the Capitol Building. I think it’s possible that Walker’s curfew might have sparked the defining battle, like that over who controlled Tahrir Square. Whose House?! OUR HOUSE!
Continue reading Governor Walker’s Mubarak Moment #2The fraud that Scott Walker and the billionaire-funded Tea Party movement represents is slowly unraveling before our eyes. Their magic show has stumbled, and like Hosni Mubarak and Muammar al-Gaddafi, their worthless lies are being exposed. All elected officials who want to play the role of the Wizard of Oz, keeping us from looking behind the curtain, should take heed. Now is the time for honest dialogue and debate about where we stand. No matter what political stripe you color yourself — Green, Blue, Red, Black Tea or whatever — it’s time for some hard truths to emerge. And it’s time for people to start standing up for common sense collective problem solving. United we stand, divided we fall.
It will be interesting to see whether they go through with this charade, whether Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity will really go ahead with an ad campaign designed to turn the tide against the public employees and their supporters. It was dumbfounding to see Mubarak and Gaddafi take to the airwaves so many times in such a clueless, tone deaf manner. The clearer these billionaires want to create a frontline of fraud, the better for the people fighting such an unholy alliance of greed and government.
Now Madison police chief Noble Wray is calling on Governor Walker to explain his comments that he looked into sending infiltrators into the crowds in Madison. Time to throw this guy out of office.

In a nearly unanimous vote today, Chuck Turner was ousted from his seat on the Boston City Council, effective Friday December 3rd.
Thirty two days after being convicted in federal court of taking a bribe, City Council members voted 11 to 1 to support an order to remove the District Seven Councilor from the legislative body. Turner has served his district for eleven years.
Only Councilor Charles Yancey opposed the order calling on Turner to vacate his office.
Never before in its history has the Boston City Council banished a sitting member.
In an emotional and tearful speech to his colleagues, City Councilor At-Large Felix Arroyo, said “we cannot escape our deeds…facts are facts. And Councilor Turner was convicted of the worst crime a politician can commit…”
Arroyo, who was one of only three Councilors to testify for or against Councilor Turner, said he was saddened that he would not be able to serve the remainder of his term alongside his “friend and colleague.”
Early in his City Hall career, Arroyo worked as Councilor Turner’s Director of Constituent Services.

The Green Rainbow Party congratulates Deval Patrick and all of the winners in yesterday’s election. We thank all candidates for offering their public service, especially the independent candidates for various offices who faced an uphill fight against financial disadvantages and media bias. We wish the Patrick administration and the legislators the best of luck in dealing with the issues facing the Commonwealth.
“It’s clear that the Green-Rainbow Party has a vital role to play in being the voice for some urgently needed solutions that are not going to be put on the table without us” said Michael Horan, Green-Rainbow Party Co-chair.

THANK YOU for standing up, facing the heat, and shining your light in these worrisome times. Without our voices in this race, the governors campaign would have been no more than a choice between two versions of corporate-sponsored business as usual. One is accompanied by crocodile tears and the other by unapologetic crowing. But they lead us to the same place in the end. Amidst this murky false-choice, our campaign was the beacon of integrity, justice and democracy that’s needed to scatter the gathering political thunderclouds.
While the media blackout combined with an intensive spoiler fear campaign to peel innumerable voters away – resulting in 1.4% support overall – we ran as strong as 12% in communities in Western Massachusetts. No small feat in light of the drumbeat to scare progressives into silence.
Still we emerge from this race stronger than ever. Our ranks have swelled with inspired activists prompted by this latest election-charade to leave corporate-sponsored politics for good. Many former Democratic stalwarts have now joined us in building a clean-money politics of integrity in the Green-Rainbow Party.
